About Denali
For adventures that require more.
Denali is a 2024 Storyteller Overland Beast MODE — a top-tier 4WD campervan that delivers a noticeably more luxurious feel than most vans in its class. The interior is built around Storyteller's Groove Lounge and Flex Space concept: a modular layout where the shower and bathroom components are cleverly hidden away when not in use, leaving the living area feeling genuinely open and airy. It's the same footprint as El Capitan, but it lives completely differently inside.
The Beast MODE sits on the same Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 chassis as El Capitan, with an Agile Offroad suspension system for real off-road capability. The interior sleeps 2–3 adults, and the kitchen runs on an induction cooktop powered by a robust, high-capacity lithium battery bank — significantly more capable than El Capitan's system, with more reserve for extended off-grid use and power-hungry appliances.
The rear garage system is the other defining feature: a full-width, reinforced storage compartment that fits two bikes, kayaks, paddleboards, surf gear, or whatever else your trip demands. Load through the rear doors and forget about roof racks, hitch carriers, and drag. If your trip involves bringing serious gear and you want your living space to stay livable, Denali is the van.

Common Questions
Denali FAQ
What makes the Beast MODE different from a regular Sprinter van build? +
Storyteller Overland's Beast MODE is a professional factory build, not a DIY conversion. Every system — electrical, plumbing, cabinetry, garage — is engineered together. The result is higher reliability, better weight distribution, and components that work in harmony rather than fighting each other. The 4x4 Sprinter chassis is the same platform used by El Capitan.
Can I bring my bikes on Denali? +
Yes — that's exactly what the rear garage is designed for. Two full-size mountain or road bikes fit with front wheels removed, secured with tie-down straps. Bike racks on the exterior are not needed or provided. The bikes load through the rear doors and the garage floor is reinforced to handle the weight.
How does Denali handle off-road terrain? +
Denali is built on the same Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 chassis as El Capitan, with an Agile Offroad suspension system. It handles graded forest service roads, moderate high-clearance routes, and dirt road travel comfortably. The added weight of the gear garage and interior buildout means it's slightly heavier than El Capitan, but for most NorCal backcountry roads the difference is negligible.
What type of fuel does Denali use? +
Denali runs on diesel. The Sprinter 3.0L V6 diesel engine is fuel-efficient relative to its size and range. Diesel is widely available throughout California at truck stops and rural stations near most popular destinations.
Can I run everything off-grid? +
Yes. Denali's solar and high-capacity lithium battery system is more robust than El Capitan's, designed to handle the induction cooktop and extended off-grid use comfortably. It powers the refrigerator, induction cooktop, interior lighting, USB charging, and the diesel heater. With good sun, most renters go 3–5 days without needing shore power. Induction cooking draws more power than propane — for very heavy cooking, plan a hookup night every few days.
Is Denali suitable for a family trip? +
Denali is well-suited for a couple plus one child, or three adults who don't mind close quarters. The rear bed sleeps two comfortably; the front can accommodate a third with a sleeping pad. The garage system keeps gear organized so the living space stays livable.
